Uskršnji otok jedan je od najizoliranijih komadića kopna na Zemlji. Njegovi prvi stanovnici su u nekoliko stoljeća razvili dobro organizirano društvo. Razvoj tog društva temeljio se na pretjeranom iscrpljivanju resursa, a ponajviše na intenzivnoj deforestaciji. Nakon dosega vrhunca, društvo se tek nekoliko desetljeća prije otkrića otoka od strane Europljana urušilo zbog neimaštine izazvane neodrživim razvojem. Ono što čini slučaj Uskršnjeg otoka zanimljivim jest to što se vrlo lako može tumačiti kao model Zemlje u malom, odnosno model današnjih globalnih okolišnih procesa i problema. Kako bi izbjegli scenarij Uskršnjeg otoka na globalnoj razini, potrebno je izvući pouke iz ovog primjera i spriječiti daljnju ekološku devastaciju planeta.

Easter Island is one of the most isolated islands on Earth. It's first inhabitants developed a well organized society in a few centuries. Development of that society was based on the overconsumption of resources, especially on intense deforestation. After their peak, the society collapsed because of the scarcity of resources caused by the unsustainable development, just a few decades before the first Europeans discovered the island. What makes the case of Easter island so interesting is the fact that it can be interpreted as a model of Earth on a smaller scale, or a model of today's global environmental processes and problems. In order to avoid the scenario of Easter Island on a global scale, it is necessary to learn lessons from this example and to stop further ecological devastation of our planet.

Tijekom izvođenja projekta “Razvoj metodologije za ocjenu hidromorfološkog stanja u stajaćicama i provedba hidromorfološkog monitoringa”, koji za Hrvatske vode tijekom 2018. godine izvode stručnjaci tvrtke Elektroprojekt d.d i Geografskog odsjeka Prirodoslovno-matematičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, kartografskom analizom i terenskim radom na području parka prirode i okolice Vranskog jezera počelo je prikupljanje i računalna obrada prostornih podataka i pokazatelja o okolišu. Temeljem svojstava i uzročno-posljedičnih veza će se odrediti relevantni geoindikatori i bioindikatori te kombinirani pokazatelji prostornih procesa, oblika te strukture krajobraza i stanja okoliša. Tijekom početne etape prikupljanja i analize podataka naglasak je na geomorfološkim procesima i oblicima (prirodnim i antropogenim), elementima krajobraza i antropogenim elementima istraživanog prostora, a u sintezi naglasak će biti na strukturi krajobraza kao odrazu općeg stanja okoliša.
During the activities on the project “Development of the methodology for assessing the hydromorphological state in the lakes and the implementation of hydromorphological monitoring” (Hrvatske vode) in 2018, experts from the company Elektroprojekt d.d. and the Department of Geography (Faculty of Science, UNIZG) began mapping and field work in the area of Vransko Lake (Dalmatia, Croatia). The purpose is to gather and analyze spatial data and environmental indicators for the spatial analysis of the Vransko Lake Nature Park and the surrounding area. Based on the properties and their relationships, relevant geoindicators, bioindicators and combined indicators of spatial processes, landscape patches, spatial structure and condition of environment will be determined. During the initial stage of data collection and analysis, the emphasis is on geomorphological processes and forms (natural and anthropogenic), landscape elements and anthropogenic elements of the area. The goal is to connect the landscape structure and the general condition of the environment.

Film je naizgled geografiji nezanimljiv predmet istraživanja. No, istražimo li dublje način na koji film utječe na prostor, dolazimo do zaključka kako je film jedan od snažnih pokretača prostornih i socijalnih procesa. Film Hrabro srce Mela Gibsona tipičan je primjer u kojoj mjeri film može utjecati na prostor i oblikovanje identiteta. Ovaj rad bavit će se odnosom filma i geografije na primjeru ranije navedenog filma, te će proučavati i analizirati na koji način je film utjecao na identitet, politiku i turizam Škotske. // It seems that film is uninteresting topic for geography to research. But, if we investigate deeper in the ways of how film is influencing the space, we come to the conclusion that film is a powerful initiator of spatial and social processes. The movie Braveheart by Mel Gibson is a typical example of how film can influence space and shape the identity of a nation. This paper will study the relationship between film and geography on the example of the earlier mentioned movie, and it will study and analyze how did the movie influence the identity, politics and tourism of Scotland.

Floods are natural phenomenon with whom human has faced since the time of old civilizations. Despite the long history of flood influence on human society and infrastructure, people still haven't found adequate solution how to live in harmony with this phenomenon. On the contrary, the catastrophic consequences of floods have been worse and worse in past few decades, due to man's increased wish to control and manipulate the nature, thus including rivers, but also, due to the irresponsible and unplanned population of river floodplains. The climate changes have also increased the extreme water levels, which caused the floods being more often and disastrous in last couple of years in Croatia. Despite the fact that today there are many different techniques and methods of fighting against floods, in most parts of Croatia, those are limited to levees, and from mobile technology to sandbags. The damage of floods is enormous, and in the end it costs the responsible institutions, including the state, more money than it would cost to invest into adequate and quality flood defence system. The problem of floods is even bigger due to the fact that the most of the floodplains near bigger croatian rivers are populated. Except the fact that irresponsible and unplanned population creates greater risk for people and material goods, it also spreads the area of the country that has to be somehow protected from floods, which makes it harder and more expensive to accomplish. To solve the problem of floods in Croatia, it is necessary to analize and categorize the flood areas by flood risk, and then by the individual access to the soecific territories and categories create the adequate flood protection plans.
